If you THRIVE TEACHING IN-PERSON and just know in your bones that if you could take all that in-your-brain-knowledge and get it out into material form on the (digital) page, it would be great in so many ways!

……BUT you struggle to get anything written, or organized (for years!) and people keep asking for that online course, that certificate program, or that teacher training manual or sequence.

… And so, you keep going in circles….

And hard as you try, you just don’t seem to write your curriculum, let alone love it!  And because you don’t LOVE it, it often doesn’t get done!

So if this sounds like you…

I want to share some 9 fabulous reasons to fall head over heels in LOVE with Curriculum Design

(the process and the product) so you can keep your eye on that North Star vision while you START CREATING!

  • Clarity on what you do (and why you do it!). The process of writing curriculum creates clarity of both your BIG vision as well as HOW that vision articulates with the project at hand. Clarity spurns effective momentum so you can create with purpose.
  • Charts a Clear Pathway. While many of us can get lost in the many ways we could approach a topic or a project, when we take the time to survey the content and choose the best path forward, we become the knowledgeable tour guide our learners need.
  • Identifies opportunities. (previously missed in the learning journey) An aerial perspective reveals the pathway of the learning journey in a connected and whole way, revealing previously missed opportunities, as well as identifying opportunities ahead!
  • Creates cohesion. When we see the journey from beginning to end we can take care to note that we have considered what IS needed (and what is not) on this particular journey. This creates a feeling of cohesion for our learners throughout all of the aspects of our course.
  • Makes you think about your LEARNERS. (not just the content) One of the many gifts of curriculum design is that we get to spend as much time designing FOR OUR LEARNERS as we do thinking about the content. This is so often missed, especially in old-school approaches to online course design.
  • Ends Decision Fatigue. (in the content creation and teaching process) Ah, decision fatigue! this may be the main nemesis of many creatives and phenomenal teachers who are brilliant in their fields, but struggle to create curriculum. While writing curriculum necessitates clarity of purpose and clear decisions, once the decisions have been made about what is in and what is out of the curriculum, your content creation and teaching can flow with more ease because the foundation – your curriculum – supports you!
  • Provides a platform for Course Evaluation and Customer Surveys. All great teachers (and entrepreneurs) are always iterating- choosing to do more of what works, and eliminating and lessening what does not work. When you have a clear curriculum it provides a tool to develop metrics to measure and evaluate what works and what doesn’t, which can even be based on customer feedback.
  • Catalyzes your marketing message. Since your curriculum clearly lays out a map for your learner and tells them what to expect, you can take these clarified messages and employ them in marketing messages and sales pages as your course promise.
  • Writing and Publishing is LOVE IN ACTION. Writing in the form of journaling is very self-reflective, but writing and publishing your work in the form of a course (online or in-person), certificate sequence or training are putting your LOVE and EXPERTISE in ACTION.

Taking your expertise and transforming it into a learning opportunity for someone who needs it can transform both your business and their life.

This is LOVE IN ACTION.
